Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me and a number of friends are running the Tough Mudder Challenge on the 15th June in Edinburgh for the Salvation Army's mission to Ukraine in July 2014.
The Salvation Army have now been involved in a project in Ukraine for seventeen years in which they have carried out building projects over the years at locations such as orphanages, a TB sanatorium and elderly peoples’ homes.
Two years ago I was involved in undertaking a building project at the Good Samaritan old people’s home in Kirovograd. This involved renovating bathrooms, bedrooms and a kitchen. The home was structurally unsound and needed to be made watertight to deal with the harsh winters. We installed new windows and secured the building. Residents were also in appalling conditions and were in need of suitable furniture so new beds were purchased for every resident.
This year we are going back this time to a country that is in political disarray. A team will go to work with extreme poverty within the Roma Gypsy community and a building team is going to a Salvation Army centre to create a soup kitchen for the homeless within Kiev’s suburbs.
A portion of the funds raised will also go towards the Salvation Army Govan soup kitchen in which unprivileged locals can come and receive hot food, clothing, toiletries and food parcels.
All money given will go directly to the projects – all members of the teams are unpaid volunteers. Please give what you can.
