Visit the charity's profileWinton Salvation Army have been involved as a church and centre for over twenty years now with the Salvation Army in Ukraine, and have held music and fun residential camps for over 150 children, organised and staffed children’s day camps for various communities, carried out building projects over the years and helped at orphanages, a TB sanatorium and older peoples’ homes. In July of 2018 a team of approx. 40 people will travel there and split into various groups. We are undertaking a building project this year at a home for the elderly, renovating their kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. There will also be a healthcare team working within the home and also in the local village of Uhniv giving basic medical care where required. We are also running children's camps in an orphanage in Lviv previously visited by our team in 2016. In addition we are sending a team, as we did for the mission in 2016, to the Carpathian mountain region to work with Roma gypsy families in a community of 3000 people. Children will be offered a day camp with craft, games and music.
