Story

Firstly, Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page! The money raised through this campaign will support female Netball players at hub sites in Lusaka. Hub sites are owned and run by the community they serve as central venues offering sport-specific training and competition. The sites are focused on creating pathways, and empowering young individuals within the community, with an underlying focus on sustainability.

This initiative aims to address key challenges by teaching girls and young women new skills in order for them to create sellable products made from African wax print/Chitenge material, as well as educate them in the process of running their own small business. In addition, it will allow the females to gain further exposure of their crafts, and potentially generate income to contribute to school fees and provide family support amongst other necessities.

Jessica Kaluwe the 'Girls In Action', Hub Site Coordinator based at Matero has combined her two passions, Netball and craftmanship to engage over 450 girls from her community to teach life-skills initiatives. Jessica has been teaching the girls how to create and make small items such as jewelry and doormats to generate income to support their families, keeping them out of vulnerable or dangerous situations and to raise funds to help them return to school. The hub site that Jessica has created is driven by the community who aim to create long-lasting and sustainable change.

Currently, the products are only being sold to their local and neighboring communities, however, your support will allow the young people to have further reach with their craft products. The money raised will allow the girls to create more products through the purchase of critical items for the community such as; sowing machines and other craft equipment. Your donation will also enable more young players to have the opportunity to gain entrepreneurial life skills to provide a platform for them to have a better quality of life.

On behalf of the girls and young women directly impacted by your generous donation, I want to say 'thank you' in advance for your much-appreciated support!

Take care, and stay safe.
