Story

Here in Maricopa County, the summer sun can be dangerous, even deadly, for our vulnerable neighbors. That's why, when temperatures top 100 degrees, Phoenix Rescue Mission declares a Code: Red on the streets.

The numbers are staggering. Last summer, extreme heat killed 323 of our neighbors in Maricopa County - 59% of them homeless. The danger disproportionately targets our most vulnerable populations: seniors, those with disabilities, and homeless people.

Phoenix Rescue Mission strives to mobilize the community to transform lives through a comprehensive approach designed to provide a hand-up, not just a handout. PRM addresses the mental, physical and emotional needs of those in our community struggling with hunger, homelessness, addiction and trauma.
