Story
The Dragon Boat Race:
Thirteen teams are set to compete in the anual Chester Dragon Boat Festival on Sunday 9th June. Held on the River Dee at Sandy Lane.
Each each person in the team is encouraged to raise money for their team's nominated charity - and with up to 20 team members, that soon becomes a lot of money.
Racing is over a course of 200 meters and each team will have a minimum three timed races where their single fastest time only will count for Grand Final qualification. What this means is, even if two of your races are both disasters, one great time is still all you need to be in with a good chance of going through to the Grand Final race.
Aviagen Turkeys have entered x2 boats into the race Ninja Turkeys & Warrior Turkeys!
Thank you for sponsoring!
About our chosen charity:
R.A.B.I is a grant-making charity which helps farming people of all ages if they are in financial difficulty. Support is confidential and includes one-off or regular payments, funding for things like essential household items, disability equipment, relief farm staff, home-help and care costs.
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is a welfare charity which changes lives for the better.
They offer financial support to farming people in hardship of all ages. They treat every application for support on its own merits, working with compassion and discretion.
To qualify for long-term financial support, applicants must normally be 65 or over and have worked in farming for at least 10 years. Dependants can also qualify for assistance. The trustees retain the discretion to help people at all times.
They provide short-term and long-term support to people and many become 'full beneficiaries' of the charity, receiving ongoing regular payments.
Every case is different and the help we offer is wide ranging.
