No morning coffee. No lunchtime fizzy pop. No after-work beer. Can you deny the cravings and say no to all drinks but water for 10 days?

Story

I drink A LOT of coffee. I drink A LOT of diet coke. Day-to-day, that's pretty much all I drink. At the weekend, you can add in wine, bubbles and whatever else into that mix. I simply never drink water. Ever.

But that's all about to change.

For the entire month of October the only liquid to pass my lips will be water. Straight from the tap. Just as it comes. No flavour added. Pure and simple H2O.

Water is a basic essential for life. It helps us to survive, to grow and to not shrivel into a raisin. But, it can also be dangerous. The seas, rivers and waterways that help bring this elixir to us and others can take life in just moments. The RNLI works everyday to save lives, through prevention and rescue - and 95% of the people that provide these services are volunteers, putting their lives at risk to save others. Pretty noble me thinks. So, by sponsoring me to only drink H2O, you'll be helping the good people at the RNLI to save people from H2O.

You might have been to a beach this summer, patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards. You know those snazzy red and yellow flags that tell us where is safe to swim in the sea, well they cost £17. And those iconic yellow boots that the volunteers wear on the Lifeboats to protect their tootsies - they're £45. And the helmets that protect their bonces but also help them keep in contact with the crew - they're £198. A lifeguard's wetsuit - £245. A brand new Lifeboat - £2.2million.

So thanks for supporting my personal challenge, but also for supporting those helping others challenged by H2O.
