Story

Hello and welcome to my  fundraising page.

My name is Ayesha Khan, I was born with Spina Biffida and Hydrocephalus which means I am paralysed from the waist down so I have to use my wheelchair 24/7 to get me places A to B  but hey! that still does not stop me from doing anything that I want...

Bare in mind I have never participated in anything like this before for a charity this year will be my first time so to those who know me well, you will totally appreciate how big this is for me however, I must admit that the training for this hasn't been easy, the aches and pains don't go away either! the loneliness of the long distance pushing but I guess it is all worth it in the end, I cannot emphasis how important this is so please make it all worth while and support Whizz - Kidz who do a truly wonderful job to give them a chance to be a kid...

so.... the deal of setting this page up is because  I have recently agreed to undertake a challenge which is the Cardiff Half Marathon that  is 13.1 miles on Sunday 4th October 2015.and I will be participating in this in my non racing wheelchair which I received  In 2010! before I got this I felt "stuck in the mud" as I wasn't able to do what I wanted to as it wasn't very safe I kept having falls....  I  will be doing this in aid of Whizz - Kidz who I genuinely love, admire and am inspired by.

so, who are whizz kidz eh?

  • A UK Based charity
  • has supported 70,00 disabled children
  • funds equipment such as powered wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs and other mobility equipment

why?

There are a few reason why I want to take part in the race the first reason is  because I have always had an interest in doing a fundraiser my self which is close to my home town which I have done for five years and secondly because I would like to change the lives of those 70,000 young disabled children who are waiting for a piece of equipment.... but............. wait there..... I have one more special last reason as to why im doing this, it is due to being inspired by someone who did the London Marathon in 2013.

His name is Chris Greenhalgh who is also a wheelchair user, he is a Whizz Kidz co ordinator for the North area of Whizz Kidz he did Incredible, I thought to myself if he can do it so can I! so here I am signed up.... doing this will also support me to raise awareness in my area about the great work they do to raise significant funds which will support their provision of assistance to other children and families

so anyway if your'e still reading this, I urge you to please dig deep and donate to my cause now if you can no matter how big or small because it will make a difference to many lives and as Tesco says " Every Little Helps", Your sponsorship means a great deal to me, but it could mean even more to the other children and families who Whizz - Kidz helps

after you have donated I would like to request each and everyone one of you to do these three things:

1) Take a few minutes to watch this video - http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/get-our-help/young-people/ambassador-clubs

2) Donate at least one pound to Whizz - Kidz

3) please spread this sponsor page to your friends and family via facebook or emaill and ask them to donate to my cause.

this way you will be able to have a rest and have a good feeling knowing that you got the chance to do your bit to help these kids be kids!

Lastly, once you donate please don't forget to Gift Aid it! if you are a UK taxpayer please remember to tick the Gift Aid Box when donating so that an extra 25% plus a 3% supplement can be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank You for Visiting my page!
