Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Hi were Pat Gray and Esther Watson, our team name is the Barnsley Dolphins.
Macmillan has always been very close to both of our hearts and we decided at the beginning of this year that we wanted to raise money for them. We are going to swim the length of the English Channel between us in a swimming pool over 12 weeks. That's a total of 22 miles.
Pat is a pensioner she has arthritis and 2 knee replacements she has just started training and is working hard to build up her fitness to complete the challenge. She is wife to Dennis who is disabled, and is fitting in training and fundraising around helping him. She has 2 grown up children and 3 grandchilden. She is also a very good friend of Esther's and a surrogate grandma to Esther's 2 Children who call her aunty pat. Everyone is very proud of pat for taking on this challenge for such a worthy cause.
Esther is a 31 year old mother of 2; she has a condition called Fibromyalgia which is similar to arthritis. Esther is also training with Pat and trying hard to build up her fitness and stamina to be able to complete the challenge. Esther says "Macmillan has always been very close to my heart. I am finding the swimming hard due to my illness but I refuse to be beaten by it, we will swim 22 miles whatever it takes. Macmillan is such a worthy charity and we feel privileged to be doing this."
