Story
As I rapidly approach the age of 40, I feel very grateful to have got this far in life. I am reflecting more and more that not everyone I have known has been so fortunate, or has got to this stage without a near miss. In a number of cases, mental health has been a key factor, so it is a subject close to my heart.
Life is mostly exciting and fulfilling, and time spent around other people is both enjoyable and meaningful. Less often, life can dark, raw, and interspersed with feelings of being of little value, and disconnected from the happiness and peace of mind experienced by others. Given that men are particularly bad at talking about feelings, I am fundraising for the men's mental health charity, CALM.
It costs £171 per hour to run the helpline, which provides immediate help, advice and support to men, often at their lowest or most distressed point. If you want to help me celebrate a milestone as well as to fund a really important resource, then please consider donating towards this challenge .
So here's the itinerary (other runs TBC) :
14th April Sheffield Half Marathon
12th May Leeds Half Marathon
19th May Manchester Half Marathon
21st July London 10km
2nd October 5km Birthday Run
24th November Florence Marathon
There will be 100 competitive miles, as well as some 900 in training!!
