Story
Gallows Bridge Farm - Saved for Wildlife!
Thanks to the generosity of our members, a key legacy, a grant from WREN and the latest grant from The Tubney Charitable Trust, as well as grants from other Trusts and Foundations, BBOWT are thrilled to announce that we have now reached and exceeded our appeal target.
The reponses from our members has been overwhelming - people have given from all over the three counties and beyond, and it really goes without saying, that without their support we could not have saved this wonderful habitat.
Thank you to everyone who donated - you made this happen.
Gallows Bridge Farm is one of the most exciting sites for wildlife BBOWT have ever come across. It’s a remarkable piece of rare wetland, already brimming with species we’re desperate to help such as curlew, snipe and lapwing. As well as this, the 143 acres of land lies adjacent to our existing Upper River Ray Nature Reserve, and acquiring it this is a key step in creating a ‘living landscape’ – the sort of extended habitat precious species really need to thrive.
Thanks to your help we are now able to purchase the land on 14 December 2007.
If you still wish to donate...
Don't worry - you haven't missed the chance to help. We are still accepting donations which will all go to the restoration of the site.
You can still make a donation through this site - it is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. We do pay a percentage on all donations we receive through this website (please see http://www.justgiving.com/Statements/about_us/how_it_works.asp for a full explanation of fees) but we have found the benefits of this form of fundraising far outweigh the costs. If you have any questions about this, please call out Supporters Office on 01865 788 300.
