It's so hard not to notice that right now, that we are all living through a very difficult time. More than ever before, we have relied upon the front line heroes working in the NHS, to treat those unfortunate enough to be ill.

Today, The Bears are launching an urgent appeal for supporters to come together in support of these brave heroes, and to make a real difference.

For many years now, The Bears led by 'Nutty' Nigel Riley, have been raising money for Rockinghorse, which is the charitable arm of The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Sussex.

With no direct funding from the state, the hospital's Emergency Department has often been in desperate need of many items of life saving equipment.

As a group, backed by YOU our supporters, we have fulfilled those requests, buying many incubators and ventilators over the past seven years.

We recently ran an incredibly poignant story on our Facebook page, highlighting exactly how hard the three ventilators we purchased in 2019 are currently working.

The nature of the beast is that even in normal times, because of the growth of asthma and other respiratory conditions, there is a huge demand for ventilators in the Emergency Department. 

One can only really imagine, what the demand for these precious life saving machines is at this critical time, in the fight against Covid-19.

What we do know is that just when the hospital desperately needs help, the charity like so many others right across the country, has been hit dramatically by the Lockdown. 

Living in Sussex, every family has had a member pass through the hospital at some time. Indeed many of The Bears themselves have had children helped by the hard working staff over the years.

As a group, despite the difficult circumstances, we are committed to doing 'our bit' in 2020, making a massive difference to the young lifes of the patients going through the hospital.
