Story

Thank you for considering a donation towards my 2022 Beast fundraising efforts! My goal is to reach $500 before Friday, Sept. 2, 2022 - Will you help me get there?Your donation will support more than 6,200 children and adults with autism, intellectual disabilities or behavioral health challenges that Barber National Institute serves annually.

Reason #1- My dad always said to me, “Becca, you are trying to pack 10 pounds of sh@t into a 5 pound bag.” He was usually (probably always) right, but in my opinion the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I wish I could hear him say this to me just one more time! So I am making him the first reason why I have decided to on my (insert age here) birthday this September to run The Barber Beast at the Bay. I figure what the heck, travel over 10 hours back to my hometown, run a ten mile obstacle course, and then travel 10 hours home. Yep, I am living up to my dad’s saying, but he would be proud of me for taking on the challenge and doing it for charity. My goal is to reach $500 by September.

Each month until my race I will share a reason I am running it. The first reason is my dad, Jim Belcastro!

Reason #2- My friends! Thank you Mara and Emily for convincing me that this would be a great birthday bonding experience! We are UNSTOPPABLE!

Reason #3- A supportive spouse! It takes time to train and a cheering section. Thanks to my fan club Phil and Finn! Only a few more weeks!

Reason #4- I teach! I work with kids who face many challenges at home and at school. I believe in being a role model for them. I need to show them facing challenges are not easy or accomplished in a day. Set a goal and go for it!
