Story
Hi all!
As some of you may know I have recently started working at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Trust as the Group Programme Manager for Medicine and Emergency Care (MEC). As part of my role I am the MEC lead for the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) project therefore the new hospital development is very close to my heart.
With that in mind I have agreed to take part in the MMUH zip wire event at the end of March 2022.
At the MMUH hospital site I will be entering a floor level secure cage and will be lifted to the platform whereby I will descend 220 meters on a zip wire reaching speeds of up to 35mph, eeek!!!
For those of you that know me well, you will already know that I have a fear of heights... and of ascending on rollercoasters! So even the going up in a cage bit is going to be fairly terrifying for me!
Every single penny raised will go towards the £2 million fundraising target for The Trust Charity's We are Metropolitan campaign. This will create a welcoming and healing environment at the Midland Met, which includes community spaces such as gallery and exhibition spaces, gardens and play areas.
Your donations will also go towards enhancing research and development, understanding the conditions reflecting the growing diversity of the patient population and also add extra nurses, pharmacists and analysts over the next five years to pioneer new treatments in Midland Met.
Ways in which your donations could also support the project:
£5 - Crayons and colouring books to keep little minds busy
£50 - Fill a distraction bag with toys, games and puzzle to help keep children occupied before or during medical procedures.
£100 - Activity sessions on our elderly care ward
£150 - A breast pump to support our breast-feeding team
Please donate generously and accept my sincere thanks in advance!
