It's a Knockout · 15 April 2017

Carrington’s Solicitors and the Safer Living Foundation are running a Family Fun Day on Saturday 15th April 2017 in the theme of It's a Knockout to raise money for the Safer Living Foundation

Story

We set up the SLF charity in 2014 so that we could run projects that would help to prevent sexual abuse. We run projects that help people who have already offended to live an offence-free life - and we also offer help and support to people who have not yet offended - but who are concerned they will do (perhaps because they are struggling with sexual preoccupation).

The charity's trustees include several Nottingham Trent University staff, Lynn Saunders OBE (Governor of Whatton prison), Dr Kerensa Hocken (Regional lead forensic psychologist), Dr David Rowson (chartered / forensic accountant) and members of the police / probation / offender mgmt. service.

Every project we run is monitored, researched and evaluated by the Sexual Offences, Crime and Misconduct Research Unit at NTU so that we can ensure we are using methods that work, that we can make adjustments to improve our success rates and also so we can contribute to the evidence base about what helps to prevent sexual offending. We are also very proud of our connections with our service users (people who have committed sexual offences) as they are a vital and integral aspect of our work - listening to the people who are experts in this field, and using the knowledge we gain to improve what we do - with the aim of preventing further victims of sexual offending.

This event is taking place on Saturday 15th April, and is being organised by Carringtons solicitors. We are putting forward an NTU team and an SLF team and we are hoping to take 1st and 2nd place and beat those pesky solicitors and others into submission with giant inflatables.......
