I am part of a community sponsorship group who will shortly be welcoming a Syrian refugee family to come and make a home within our village.This family have been displaced through the war, fleeing with very little and leaving family and all that they have worked for behind. The aim of the scheme is to resettle the family through private sponsorship and direct support from a community to enable a self sustainable change to their life - one with a positive and successful ending for each member of the family, giving them the same chance of peace, freedom and security that we enjoy. 

I signed up to this 4KM swim thinking it wasn't that big a deal, as running 4km isn't much of a drama. I then found out that 4km is the equivalent of 160 lengths in a standard size pool. I therefore have a week to raise sponsorship and get swim fit... Although this is no easy feat this is nothing compared the experience of refugee's. And so as I endure 1.5 hours of constant swimming, a belly full of lake water and some impressive wetsuit rashes I would love it if you could help encourage me by gifting some money to this wonderful scheme and cause.
