Story
On August Bank Holiday Sunday, when sensible people are
tucking into their barbecues or getting drunk at festivals, two reasonably
dilapidated middle-aged men will be climbing up Ben Nevis. One with arthritic feet, asthma and a dodgy knee. One who supports Mill Wall, who used to be ginger and has a joke for every single minute of every single day. Who knows how long it will take? Who knows whether Pat will survive Steve’s moaning about his aching joints? Who knows whether Steve will survive Pat’s constant stream of jokes from the notebook that Bob Monkhouse lost back in 1996? All that is certain is that they will do their very best to reach the peak before nightfall in aid of their favourite charity.
Aimee’s Fund is a registered charity set up to raise money for Keech Hospice Care in memory of Aimee Varney. Aimee was a young nurse who died very suddenly at the age of 21, in 2013. Steve is Aimee’s dad and this trek means the world to him. Pat is one of his great friends who has supported him every step of the way. Please support these two intrepid explorers as they prepare to climb to the peak of the highest mountain in Britain. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity. Every
penny really does count.
