Founded by Rachel and Tom Duke and Weinab Seyfu in 2016, Meseret for Women is a charity providing care and assistance for vulnerable women in Ethiopia to provide new mothers with support, self-worth and skills so they are able to support their children. 

The stories of the girls all have common themes; typically they are separated from their families due to either loss of one or both parents then sent away to live in situations where they are vulnerable, living with ‘friends’ or relatives that they barely know. These girls, often hardly more than children themselves, are then without any parental guidance, family support or government safety net and can easily be put into hazardous situations. People can take advantage of this with little fear of any consequences and often the girls find themselves pregnant through no fault of their own. They are then cast out which means living on the street - the most dangerous and frightening a life a young mother can be swept into.
