Make like a Tree - Cycle ride for Trees! · 1 May 2021

The Tree Council brings everyone together with a shared mission to care for trees and our planet’s future. We inspire and empower organisations, government, communities and individuals with the knowledge and tools to create positive, lasting change at a national and local level.

Story

Trees do so much for us, not only do they provide oxygen for us to breathe, they help clean our air & store carbon. Trees are effective air filters & species such as the London Plane are efficient in filtering harmful pollutants from our air. Their roots provide flood control & prevent soil erosion. Trees are crucial for wildlife, they provide food & habitats. In addition, they provide us with shade, wind break & immeasurable benefit to our mental health and overall wellbeing!

We need to protect trees! Too many are being cut down. We also need to plant more trees. The UK only has 10% forest cover! We need the right trees planted in the right places. The Tree Council uses expert knowledge to ensure we are working alongside nature to plant, protect & care for Trees effectively. Working with nature to create a healthier environment for wildlife & people!

Being a Tree Warden is a role that I love. It involves studying & surveying sites, communicating with different groups including local councils, planning and writing up proposals, staging community events, planting & aftercare. Our local Tree Warden Network has also set up & nurtures a bio-secure tree nursery & we are involved in TPO matters. I have seen first-hand the excellent work that the Tree Council & its national Tree Warden Scheme does!

Trees are essential to wildlife & for people - for our mental & physical health. The Tree Council does amazing work to support nature. Please support the Tree Council!
