I am a very fortunate individual who has been lucky enough to be selected to participate in a community support project for a week in the village of Gunjur in the Gambia . 

Since 2016, groups of volunteers have worked with the local people on various projects, including the renovation of the village community centre and creating a women's allotment garden to help them grow vegetables to improve the diet and health of their children and raise money to support their education. 

The Charitable Foundation has supported building a classroom which enabled over 100 children a year to attend pre-school who could not walk the distance to the other schools in the village centre. It has also donated funds to build a disability centre for children with additional needs, who are usually hidden away at home and seen as cursed. 

Philanthropy is extremely important to me both personally and through my business and I am extremely excited about actually getting 'stuck in' with a project like this as well as fundraising for it. 

Therefore, as part of my ongoing commitment to help prevent/relieve poverty and financial hardship, I am pledging to match any contributions made to support this project as well as taking time out to help such a worthwhile cause. Furthermore, the St.James's Place Charitable Foundation will match your contributions made and therefore every £1 raised will be triple matched and become £3. The funds raised will not only help people in Gambia but funds will be donated to local projects in the UK.
