University of the Arts London (UAL) is made up of 6 renowned Colleges: Camberwell College of Arts, Central Saint Martins, Chelsea College of Arts, London College of Communication, London College of Fashion and Wimbledon College of Arts.

Story

OK, I did it !
Had a bit of a nightmare though - I was bounding along quite happily, reached halfway within 2 hours, so all on course. But then I got injured - a nerve in my back has been playing up and meant I had to hobble the rest of way. I finished in just under 5 and a half hours. Bit gutted to be honest, but at least I can drink beer again !!

I’m running to support 1, hopefully 2 students at Central St. Martins College of Art & Design, who would otherwise not have been able to attend college.

All money received goes to a scholarship fund to support a student(s) studying for their foundation year – no deductions are made by the college for administration and if you pay online here, and are a UK taxpayer, we will receive Gift Aid as well making the gift worth nearly 120% of what you pledged.

AND…..all donors will receive an invitation to an exclusive Champagne Reception I am organising at Central St. Martins later in the summer, where you can look at some of the work of their students, but also view and buy work from new artists.

Central St. Martins is part of the University of the Arts, London and students can study for a range of subjects including Fashion, Painting, Theatre Design, Textiles and Literature.

Famous alumni include Lucien Freud and Frank Auerbach who studied fine art at St Martin's in the middle of the 20th century and fashion designers including John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney who have changed the face of international fashion in the 1990s. Also, many well-known actors including Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan have studied at the Drama Centre, and even pop-stars such as Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) and Jarvis Cocker were there.

But if you’re a complete ignoramus like me, you won’t necessarily have heard of some of the artists who have graduated from CSM.

My mum is an artist (see: www.margaretabraham.com) but never got the chance to go to art college. I want to ensure that someone who is good enough to get a place at CSM is able to attend, regardless of their financial position.

I am hoping to raise £8,000 to support 2 foundation year students, the money going to pay their tuition fees and a contribution to living expenses for one year.

Don’t forget that your gift will not have any administration charges deducted. In fact, if you’re a UK taxpayer and pay online here, the college will receive something like 120% of the money you donate.

You can check out a lot of new CSM artists at www.degreeart.com - some of the work shown here is stunning.  I hope to be able to have some of the art shown here at the Champagne Reception, so you can view the work of current and past students of the college.
