Story
Christmas is normally a wonderfully busy time for The Bostock Singers. This time last year, we had performed in Llandudno at the North Wales Choral Festival at the start of November (coming second). We had taken part in the fabulous ‘Christmas at Capesthorne’, we also appeared at the Hartford Victorian Christmas Fair and had our own Christmas concert at St John’s Church in Hartford. We performed outside Waitrose in Northwich, singing for Parkinson’s UK. Our last engagement before Christmas was at the Masonic Hall in Middlewich.
This year is a very different story. We haven’t sung ‘together’ since March, but we have kept going with our rehearsals through the lockdown by rehearsing on Zoom. The Bostock Singers were very proud to put together a Lockdown video of the Coldplay classic ‘Fix You’ as a fundraiser for Parkinson’s UK. We are hugely grateful to everyone who contributed; the video raised nearly £2000.
On the back of our success, we have decided to do it again but with a Christmas song! This time we have decided to support an incredible local charity:
Since1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, helping them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year they supported over 1,000 local people including end of life care on their ward, supporting carers, helping children cope with grief and helping patients return to work after an illness. They are a charity and provide all their care for free, so they rely on the generosity and commitment of their supporters to raise more than 80% of their costs.
