Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Last year, a dear friend of ours, John Boyman, sadly passed away from bowel cancer after a short battle with the disease. He wasn’t even 40 years old and left behind his loving wife Helen, and their 2 sons Zac and Thom as well as many other family and friends.
John was a huge Chelsea and Aldershot fan and often took his children to Aldershot matches. In his memory, a few of his closest friends have decided to walk the very long distance from Stamford Bridge in West London, all the way to Aldershot Recreation Ground, a distance of approximately 38 miles, to raise some money for Cancer Research UK’s Bobby Moore Fund.
The Bobby Moore fund was founded in 1993 as a restricted fund of Cancer Research UK, to raise money for pioneering bowel cancer research.
They have raised over £29 million since , and mortality rates for bowel cancer have fallen by more than 30%.
Sadly the disease still kills 45 people in the UK every day, showing there is still a long way to go to achieve the goal of tackling bowel cancer..
There are 7 of us walking the walk, and our aim is to complete the walk in time for kick off at Aldershot’s home ground at 3pm (tbc depending on fixture release) so will likely be a very early start!
