Story

Thank you for visiting my page. For those of you who do not know of Andrew Bart Simpson he was an Olympic gold medalist who was tragically killed in May 2013 whilst training for the Americas Cup (the F1 of sailing). The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation has been set up in his memory to help young people, aged 5-24, to develop personal skills through sailing that will improve their ability to succeed in life.

I met Bart Simpson on a couple of occasions - most noticeably when I was working abroad for a British sailing holiday company and Bart and Leah (his fiancé) came on holiday. One day while he was there he came down to the beach wanting to take out one of the Cats. I was the only member of the beach team free so went to start rigging the boat for him. He was so friendly and got stuck into rigging it beside me, talking to me all the time.  When I next saw him 3 months later at the boat show he remembered who I was. Not many people would. He was such a down to earth guy whose death was a shock to the worlds sailing community.
