Story
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), was formed in 1995 to raise awareness of young sudden Cardiac Death. Between 8 and 10 apparently "fit and healthy" young people(35 and under)die suddenly each week from undiagnosed heart conditions. These tragedies could be prevented with screening and accurate diagnosis.
CRY is dedicated to reducing young sudden cardiac death by:-
· Running the CRY national screening programme
· Running raising awareness campaigns
· Supporting medical research
· Donating medical equipment to doctors' surgeries and hospital units
· Funding the CRY Centre for Sports Cardiology at the British Olympic
Medical Centre
CRY also provides bereavement support to affected families.
Im going to be supporting my old friend Simon Halliday (former England rugby international and a patron of CRY). We will be walking 12 miles around Oxford on October 16th to help raise funds for this amazing cause. This doesnt sound a lot but bear in mind that Simon has had his knees and ankles reconstructed and spent a long time on crutches and that I am a) old and b) pretty unfit.Your support is therefore really really welcomed.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cardiac Risk in the Young will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
