Care UK's 40th birthday celebrations · 8 September 2022

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

We are riding from Care UK's oldest home (Haven Lodge in Clacton-on-Sea) to Care UK's newest home (Oxbow Manor) on a 400 mile route as part of our organisation's 40 days of giving back to celebrate Care UK's 40th anniversary. Throughout our organisation teams are raising money for local charities and charities who support the care sector. We will be visiting a number of homes on our journey and supporting them with their own fundraising.

With current cost of living increases we would be grateful for any donation you are able to make to the charities we are supporting who make such a big impact to people who need care and those who provide care.

Update: we are all deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and have questioned this morning whether we should continue with this challenge during this period of national mourning. We have been incredibly touched by the generous support of our sponsors and have enjoyed spending time with our teams and have decided to continue, but without the large scale celebrations at each home. Instead we will be respectfully marking the life of a great woman with the residents in our homes.
