Story
Every year I get this mad urge to take part in a summer challenge, and usually drag or get dragged into some fund raising event involving some other members of our vet practice, The Veterinary Hopsital Group. This time it is the one mile swim around Burgh Island, off Bigbury, in aid of The Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer.
It may not sound appealing to you, but I can tell you I am going to enjoy it a lot more than cycling from Ilfracombe to Plymouth in 2 days, which is what I had to do last year!! One of our veterinary nurses, Katie Nebel, suggested the swim, and 9 of us are taking part, some from the practice and also a few family and friends. We are training in pools and sea, often at Mothecombe Bay at high tide.
Come on down to Bigbury Beach on September 4th if you want a laugh. Bring whisky!
