I lost my younger brother Sam to suicide over a year ago in March 2018.

Sam was a great guy.  A much loved son, brother & uncle.  He was a kind, generous, smart and talented sportsman.  He was fun to be around & he would light up a room with his easy going amiable nature.

As with many of the stories I have heard since, it was a complete shock to everyone who knew him.  We now know he was struggling inside but he was unable to open up to those around him who loved & cared for him.

This run will not be easy for me as I am not a natural sportswoman.  Sam always said he had the brawn & I had the brains.  I am running the Great North Run to help raise awareness that it is ok not to be ok & to encourage men to open up & talk about their problems.  If any money raised can prevent even one more family from going through the pain we have had to endure, it will be worth it.

We miss you Sam & love you always.
