Story
Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime? And don’t I know this. Davy, my absolute rock and always the better half, was diagnosed with metastatic Prostate Cancer in May 2018. Stage 4 advanced. He underwent hormone treatment and chemo pills which certainly slowed down the aggression of the disease. We always knew the disease would be the victor but I can say the care and support with the treatment Davy received allowed him to live his best life possible. We did the rock festivals, the gigs, the wee holidays and we got married. However, August 2023 Davy was told that there was no more treatment options available. So after a short spell in hospital Davy came home where all the family met and we had Christmas Day in August. The tree was up and decorations adorned our house. A beautiful but very emotional day. Davy passed away so quickly but peacefully a few days later, with his son and me beside him, his favourite prog rock playing as he left us. Because of Davy’s situation many male friends and family members have had their PSA checked with two finding out they have prostate cancer. One is undergoing radiotherapy now whilst the other, my brother in law, will be starting treatment imminently. From this I want to say “ men, please demand your PSA is checked and don’t be embarrassed” Both men had shown NO symptoms. Please support me in giving what you can. Much love X
PS I’m walking 200 miles - 100 more than what is being asked of us! 🩵
