Story
On Saturday 17th September (or Sunday 18th, weather dependant) 17 brave souls will be putting on their hiking boots and scaling Ben Nevis in aid of our own charitable foundation.
The team is made up of staff from both our head office in Selsey, West Sussex and Nottingham in the Midlands. They include Matt, Donna, Melissa, Julie, Jonathan, Kristina, Kevin, Rachel, Craig, Claire, Ester, Abbie, Anthony, Emma, Harriet & Craig.
Training and preparation has started, headed up by our Selsey based personal trainer Matt Simpson with lots of walking, hill climbs, gym workouts and buying appropriate hiking gear. All Checkatrade staff taking part are paying for their own travel (a 10+ hour car journey for those from our Selsey office!), accommodation and equipment themselves so all the money raised will go straight to people who need it more!
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles and stands at a whopping 1346 metres above sea level and attracts climbers and mountaineers of all levels. It takes an average of 7-9 hours to get up and back down again with a variety of terrain and unpredictable weather so it’s no small feat!
The Checkatrade Foundation was set up to support people in need and in particular, children. The central aim of the foundation is to make it easy to help those less fortunate than themselves. We support projects both local and abroad, with our largest beneficiary being a children's home in Nepal supporting girls and women rescued and at most risk from a life of trafficking. The funds raised will be divided equally between Nepal and also Chestnut Tree House, a local children's hospice.
Any donations you can give will be most appreciated. We hope you feel able to support our challenge and know that every penny raised will make a difference.
Thank you and go Team Ben Nevis!
