Yes I can't really believe it myself either, but its true I have decided to run the London Marathon!

I am currently in training for Sunday 25th April and whilst I wouldn't expect anyone to run it with me, you can still help me achieve my goal by sponsoring me.  Training so far has had its ups and downs. Not just because I'm training in the Cairngorms but also as I've had to put down the cakes and get up and be active!

I am running on behalf of Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland which is one of Scotland's leading medical charities.  Coronary heart disease is one of Scotland's biggest killers; Stroke is the main cause of disability in the community; Chest illnesses of various kinds are the biggest single reason people use the health service.

CHSS fund research into all aspects of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and the social impact of chest, heart and stroke illness.  CHSS provide care and support throughout Scotland for people affected by these conditions, as well as their families and other carers.

CHSS also provide an advice line which offers a direct link to confidential, professional advice from trained nurses.  Their welfare grant programme provides direct financial aid to help patients and their families with some of the practicalities of living with a debilitating illness.

In order to maintain and continue CHSS vital work they rely on the generosity of the public.  I believe this is a very worthwhile cause, which is why I have cut out cake and am concentrating on the 26.2 miles on Sunday 25th April.  Every pound raised is spent on research and services in Scotland, so anything you choose to give is greatly appreciated.
