My Great Manchester 10k for St Anns Hospice

Great Manchester Run 10k · 22 May 2022
Chuffed to bits that I managed to drag my lardy arse over the finish line at 1:10:33… and I’m made up that I didn’t have any gravity-related mishaps for a change! Thanks for your support!

Competing in an official 10k race has been right up there on my bucket list for years… but those dastardly shin splints always had other ideas.
To be fair, when I signed up two months ago I wasn’t entirely convinced I’d be doing it… And then taking a tumble last week (an alcohol related comedy gold moment….) just added to my doubts.
But here we are, race day is upon us… I haven’t added to my injuries over the past few days… so there’s no turning back now!!
Why am I doing it to my poor knees?!
Well, first and foremost because St Ann's Hospice cares for thousands of local people with cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses every year. It’s a fabulous cause…
And secondly, if I don’t do it now I never will.
Finally, I’d be mad not to take advantage of an offer extended by my wonderful husband to double any sponsorship money I raise from all you lovely peops!
