SOFT UK Support
Campaign by SOFT UK (RCN 1002918)
SOFT UK is a small charity and fundraising efforts help to keep us going, giving us the ability to support families, healthcare professionals, and businesses through a challenging experience.

Story

We are running for SOFT UK, a wonderful small charity who support families affected by Trisomy 13 & 18.

We are running in memory of Helen and Tom’s baby girl, Catherine, who they lost at 38 weeks pregnancy on New Year’s Day this year

Helen & Tom’s story…

“During our pregnancy we received a diagnosis of Trisomy 18 (Edward’s syndrome) for Catherine and were told that she might not live for very long. It was devastating news and there didn’t seem to be much hope but we tried to prepare as best we could. After a while, we got in touch with SOFT UK. They helped us understand what having a baby with Edward’s syndrome might be like and put us in contact with other families in the same position. Through their support we managed to find hope and an amazing community of people.

Finding out Catherine’s diagnosis, losing her and now learning to live without her has been incredibly tough but it would certainly have been much harder without the help of SOFT.

Since losing Catherine, running has been something that has helped us stay on an even (ish!) keel, so it seems fitting to honour Catherine and say thank you to SOFT in this way, and we would be so grateful for any donations.”
