Glencoe Sponsored Hike · 2 September 2023 ·

We are running a guided hike along one of the escape routes taken by the MacDonalds of Glencoe during the Glencoe Massacre in 1692. We are asking supporters to the Museum to take part in the hike and raise funds for our Redevelopment.

Story

Over 60 years ago my wonderful Grandma Rae Grant along with her friend Miss Fairweather founded the Glencoe Folk Museum. In her memory my family have continued to support the amazing staff and volunteers to ensure the museum remains open and continues to keep the Highland Heritage and Gaelic culture alive. Over the next few years, the Museum is looking to expand in order to protect the historic objects it holds, but also to increase the community work they do to support local wellbeing, local employability, as well as providing educational and skills based activities for local residents.

In order to help I will be trekking through the remote Hidden Valley and taking on the Three Sisters, including the Bidean nam Bian munro on Saturday 2nd September 2023. I would be so grateful if you could sponsor me to take on this epic challenge. All of the funds raised will go towards creating a fun, educational and accessible heritage experience for the museum’s visitors and the local community.
