Man vs Mountain is a delightfully scenic 20-mile run up (and down) Snowdon with a series of land and water based obstacles chucked in for good measure including the infamous 'vertical kilometre' - a timed 1000m long ascent rising more than 250m in height.

Essentially, it's a half marathon uphill, followed by a 10km run downhill - what could be a greater test than racing up the UK's third highest mountain?!

That's exactly what Rid, Jimmy, James, Nita and Joel are going to find out and why they need your sponsorship!

As captain, Rid selected Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust as the Challenge charity as he was a big fan of the books written by Gerald Durrell and is a keen environmentalist. This also explains the team name - Team Magenpie - as it is a tip of the hat to the book 'My Family & Other Animals'.

The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust aims to not only save endangered species worldwide but also educates and supports the development of local communities in order that they can carry on the work of the conservation trust. Their conservation programmes are moving species away from the threat of extinction, without which some animals would almost certainly have gone extinct.
