The Coronavirus pandemic has caused those experiencing domestic abuse to be trapped in dangerous and distressing situations, with seriously concerning reports that domestic abuse killings more than doubled during the lockdown. Helpline and online services are providing vital support to people affected who are able to access help, with charities experiencing a surge in service users.
Southall Black Sisters run a centre in West London for women experiencing violence, abuse and other forms of inequality. They offer advice, information, casework, advocacy, counselling and self-help support services in several community languages, especially South Asian languages, and they continue to offer support online/ via phone during the pandemic.
