Hi, my name is Rehan Sajjad and I'm from Yorkshire. I'm part of a youth organisation called AMYA and we're fundraising for Model Village project in The Gambia with IAAAE this year which will cost £75,000!
IAAAE stands for the International Association of Ahmadi Architects and Engineers. They work prominently in the Africa continent working towards solutions to alleviate water poverty and bring electrification to rural locations. To date over 3.5million people have benefited from the water pumps, solar off-grid systems and villages they have rehabilitated.
IAAAE Model Village: A village is selected that has no foreseen investment or infrastructure to be installed by the government. Normally, women and children in the village travel many miles for water and have very limited access to electricity. The project aims to bring a solar water system and various solar outlets to the habitants. A community centre is also built, where the people can host social events and hold educational courses. Roads and pathways around the village are also constructed as well as toilets and sanitation infrastructure.
