Story

We all think 'it will never happen to me', but every year around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury. That's one every 90 seconds.

I had been of the view that it would never happen to me, until I acquired a brain injury in 2018 whilst playing rugby for Tunbridge Wells. I understand from experience the impacts a traumatic brain injury can have on an individual, both physically and mentally. It can be a lonely place when you a dealing with an invisible injury, but thanks to the support of loved ones, family, friends and amazing charities like Headway, there can be some light at the end of what seems like an incredibly long and dark tunnel.

I have always wanted to run the London Marathon and when looking into Charities to support, I looked no further than Headway. A charity very personal and close to my heart, I am extremely proud to be running on their behalf and am looking forward to fundraising as much money as I can.

Headway is the UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury by providing vital support to those affected and its families. The charity also lobbies for better support and resources to be made available to people affected by brain injury and works to raise awareness of brain injury and the devastating effects it can have.
