Story
2 weeks ago today my dad was taken to A&E with what we thought was some form of flu, it turns out he was actually fighting for his life with Meningococcal disease which is Meningitis and septicaemia, 6 days ago he was let out of hospital in excruciating pain with no guidance from the NHS of where to go from here, so we contacted ‘Meningitis Now’. The only thing that saved my dad was the fact he is fit and healthy, he is 58 years old and I want to raise awareness that meningitis can effect anyone at any age because personally I thought it was a disease that only babies and children were at risk of and I want to thank ‘Meningitis Now’ for their support.
Did you know that once you fall sick with this disease the bacteria doubles every 30 minutes causing rapid death? Did you know 10% of the population carries this type of meningitis in their system without knowing? Did you know it is contagious? Did you know it starts with a simple fever?
His treatment is not yet finished and we are in very early days so I know my family and I will be relying on this charity for a while so I thank you for supporting Meningitis Now with me when donating because their vision is a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.
