In 2015, I made a promise to run the London Marathon in memory of our amazing cousin Jennifer Slaughter and Gladys Tyrrell our superhero Grandma. I had to withdraw as we found out that we were expecting Isaac.

It is such an honour to have been given the chance to uphold this promise and raise funds in their memories and this is why every time I try to write this page I start welling up.......

Jennifer, my beautiful cousin and wonderful mother to William. On April 27 2013 she was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic malignant melanoma and despite putting up one hell of a fight she passed away on 29 November 2013 at St Christopher's Hopsice only seven months later - Jenny was just 28.

Gladys - our Grandmother, my best friend, my hero. I miss her every day she truly was a remarkable woman who always knew how to make us laugh, even in her last days. She died in the early hours of the morning on February 19 2012 with my Mum and Aunt by her side.

Both Nan and Jen were given the most incredible care at St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham they were treated with compassion, dignity and the love that they deserved. 

The Hospice movement in the UK is something quite remarkable and this fact frankly staggered me when I found it on the Hospice UK website.  "Collectively local charitable hospices need to raise £1.9 million every day from their local communities to fund the care they provide"

Hospice UK it the umbrella charity to Hospices throughout the UK offering support and funding.

Please Please dig deep and help these remarkable places keep offering the superheroes of our families like Jen and Nan the support that they need in their darkest moments.
