City of Chelmsford Mencap provides lifelong learning, social opportunities and specialist support for people affected by learning disability in mid-Essex. CCM is affiliated to Royal Mencap Society but is an independent, local, charity and receives no direct funding from RMS or government.

Story

Chelmsford Mencap's Daybreak Scheme is a registered charity providing play, respite and support to over 150 children with disabilities and life limiting and terminal illness living within Essex and the surrounding areas.

Every Easter and Summer school holiday we organise daily trips out for the children taking them to places such as Legoland, Chessington World of Adventurers, Bowling and farms and zoos.

This Summers Daybreak Scheme will be costing the charity £31,208.00.  If we cannot raise this money then we will have to drastically cut back on the number of children that can access this already over-subscribed scheme.

Unfortunately due to the recession several government and local grants that might normally help us fund this scheme are no longer in operation.

A donation of just £56.00 will fund one child's place (not including the cost of any outings) and they will be supported and chaperoned by a member of staff for the whole day.  So please dig deep and donate now.
