Story
In March 2020, the Greater Houston YMCA mobilized almost overnight to meet the needs of a community reeling from the unanticipated impact of COVID-19. Independently and in partnership with other nonprofits including the Houston Food Bank, the Y turned its neighborhood-based facilities into centers for food distribution, childcare for essential workers, and remote learning for families with access to internet.
At the same time our YMCA struggled and continues to do so. Members couldn’t attend, youth sports couldn’t be held, school-based programs were shut down, and income dropped precipitously.

The YMCA works to ensure that all individuals have the support they need to achieve their full potential, regardless of ability to pay.
The Y is needed now more than ever. But the campaign is about more than just raising money. It is about the life changing impact that the YMCA provides. The child who gains confidence and life saving swimming skills, the active older adult who is no longer isolated and living a healthy and active lifestyle, the child who receives critical learning programs and so many more.
At the Y, we build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. 100% of your gift goes into delivery of services. No expenses are taken out. The YMCA gets the highest ranking possible from Charity Navigator.
Please join me in supporting our Y. Your gift of any amount matters!
