We want to support Ukrainian children coming to stay in the Pontefract and Five Towns area. Pontefract Reads supports reading in our local area and we now want to help those who have escaped the conflict in the Ukraine by funding Bookmark Boxes for Ukraine.

Tens of thousands of Ukrainians, predominantly women and children, are expected to arrive in the UK through the Homes for Ukraine scheme. Bookmark is a children's literacy charity and I'm fundraising for their urgent appeal to help those children arriving in the UK feel settled with a curated welcome pack. Each pack will contain high-quality, bilingual books, magazines, activities, school packs, tablets pre-loaded with educational and language apps, and eBooks in both English and their home language.
