There are two important things you need to know about my fundraising story:-
1. I'm a chaplain for Oasis Hub South Bristol
2. I'm crazy...
Firstly, the reason I'm fundraising for Oasis is because, having worked for them since January, I have seen first hand how our work has transformed the lives of some of the most vulnerable and excluded people in our community. The money that I raise will go directly towards community projects in South Bristol and will also be used in my ongoing work in schools to support the huge potential of the children we work with.
Secondly, the reason I'm taking part in this particular event is because I tend to say yes to things before I think about them; so when my good friend Tom asked me if I wanted to take part in an 18 mile race with over 100 'gruelling' assault course challenges, it was only natural that I immediately signed myself up and only regretted it afterwards.
Still, the result is simple; I'm passionate about the work that we're doing in South Bristol to see some of the most marginalised young people and families fulfil their true potential and I've just agreed to do a MENTAL race with very low levels of fitness.
What a combination you might think! Well I'm determined to obliterate this race and for that, I ask that you generously get behind my efforts by donating some money to Oasis UK. I promise that none of it will go towards the post-race surgery or counselling I'll be needing after the big day.
£5000 is a hefty sum but I truly believe this money will go along way! Every little helps...
