Story

Hi All

By September the 26th i am hoping to have raised £1500 for the UK Fire Fighters charity to take part in the 5km memmorial walk/run in New York to honour the firefighters and all the emergency service perssonnel that lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.

This run/walk is in honour of off duty Firefighter Stephen Siller. Whilst on a rest day he heard on his scanner that the World Trade Centre had been hit, he turned his vehicle around and headed towards the site.  When his truck was prohibited from entering the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he raced on foot towards the site with his gear strapped to his back to help in any way he could. Unfortunatly Stephen, like many others never made it home to his family that day. This 5km commemorative walk/run follows the route that Stephen bravely took on that fateful day.

Over 20,000 participants took part in the 2009 event and the 2010 event is expected to be even bigger with thousands of people showing their respect for brave Firefighters, Police and workers who performed their duty that day and who risked their lives to save others.

I am hoping to raise £1500 for the firefighters uk charity to take part in this event, for those of you that dont know, this charity is for thousands of fire fighters that are injured whilst protecting the public. Every 30 seconds in the UK, fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is here for all fire service personnel and their families during their times of need, and assists thousands of individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.

Our modern, dynamic and award-winning charity has three UK centres, located in Cumbria, Devon and West Sussex, which offer varying combinations of therapy and recuperation services. Our pioneering Beneficiary Support Services also offer local and remote assistance to people in need nationwide - providing solutions to real life problems.

It costs over £9 million every year to keep the Charity running, and with no government funding, we are completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire community.

Please Please donante anything if you can i would really really appreciate it.

Ill be doing my own fund raising at the fire station, rattling tins here and there, and hopfully putting on a charity event in the near future.

Every little helps so please give what you can.

Thanks All

chris
