Story

Dear Friends and Family, Old and New,

Last time I was typing here was for my first ever Marathon in Belfast back in 2010 with my good friends Dermot Ormsby and Dermot O’Connor, when we raised sponsorship for NI Children’s Hospice & Craigavon Hospitals Neo Natal Unit. It was a great motivation knowing we were raising money for charity that assisted us mentally in getting over that finish line!

So back in May 2019 Dermot Ormsby planted a seed about doing an ultra-marathon after a few post-race beers after completing the Belfast Marathon with myself, Steven Burns, Sean Collins & Sean Mc Keown. We all thought he was talking utter madness and he had one too many but that seed grew very quickly into all of us signing up for the Connemara Ultra Marathon which takes place in Co. Galway on Sunday September 27th 2020 with a total distance of approx. 39.3 Miles.

*******Updated******

So unfortunately Connemara Ultra Marathon has been postponed for the second time this year due to Covid-19, but that won't stop us and we'll be virtually competing by running 13 laps of Craigavon Lakes on Saturday September 26th 2020. So come along and join us @ Tannaghmore Gardens entrance to the Craigavon Lakes @ 9am to cheer us on or even join us for a lap or two, we'll be down there for a while I'd say.

We have decided that the beneficiary of your kind donation will be Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI, which is the only charity in Northern Ireland dedicated to blood cancer research. Their mission is to improve survival rates and quality of life for all blood cancer patients by supporting clinicians, scientists and students researching these diseases. Please give what you can; I think you will agree this is a great cause.

Personally, this time it's a little bit different for myself as I’m running for a cause which is extremely close to home, with family and close friends who have suffered recently with more pain from Lymphoma Cancer than anyone would endure during any marathon race.

Thanks so much in advance for your support. This will be a massive achievement for me and the guy’s and we’re all really looking forward to it. BRING IT ON!
