Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Stop Press

Job done all complete in 14 hours  53 mins , this was well under my predicted time of 16 hours. It was a really enjoyable day and experience . The support on the course is unbelievable  in particular up the hills on the bike leg and the final few miles of the run .

It's not too late  to support the charity

6 AM Sunday  my number is 2066 and I am reliably told that you can track my progress through the Ironman Bolton website on the day

The Ironman  race  consists off a 2.4 mile swim  , a 112 mile bike ride and a  26 mile run to finish . The time limit to complete the event is 17 hours .  I have  also now completed  the UK 70.3 half distance event 6 weeks earlier in June . I completed this in  6 hours 49 mins

The Ironman motto is ' anything is possible' and this will be a challenge for me but not as hard as the challenge faced by Jonty , the 4 year old son of  a teacher at my sons school . Jonty suffers from Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy, which means he is unlikely to ever walk or go on to live a fully independent life as he grows old. Despite this he is the most smiley, friendly and inspirational 4 year old you are ever likely to meet , as he wakes up every day , excited to embrace the life he is able to live . An unavoidable consequence of Jonty's substantial needs is the exceptional cost of therapy and the various resources required to enable him to live as full a life as is possible .

Jonty has been registered with the charity  Tree of Hope  which assists children living with terminal illness or severe disabilities and will help fund his therapy at The Footsteps Centre www.footstepscentre.com

My journey in July will hopefully  finish in under 17 hours ,  while Jonty's journey will continue.
