Volunteers Foundation was established in 2011 with the aim of improving the life conditions of children in disadvantaged communities through the provision of quality education.​ The focus has been on the Kibera slum of Nairobi in Kenya where more than 500,000 people live in poorest conditions and are stuck in the vicious cycle of poverty. 

The Volunteers Foundation education scheme provides support for children from nursery to secondary school - and beyond. In eight years the charity has established many programmes and activities to ensure that the children in their care progress and successfully go through with their education. The aim is to enable them to leave school with a solid education and go on to university or apply for a job so they can build a life outside the slum.

All the work that's done around the charity is done by Volunteers - and 100% of the money that's being raised goes into the charitable cause. I am one of the charity's Volunteers - helping with all their communication efforts and events, and every once in a while running a race to help raise much needed funds. :)
