Story
PAL closes public areas in New York City neighborhoods suffering from high rates of crime and poverty to create supervised and fun-filled places for children ages 6-16 to play safely. Each PAL PLAYSTREET has fun athletic and recreational equipment, as well as arts and crafts. Participants also learn how to identify members of their local NYPD precinct as well as their local elected officials, fostering strong relationships and an increased sense of community.
I am raising money for PALs Summer Playstreets on 196th in the South Bronx. PAL has run Playstreets there for 30 years in collaboration with the DOE, Fordham Bedford Community Services Organization and Our Lady of Refuge Church. There is no local park in that neighborhood, and PAL has traditionally had great support from neighborhood youth. Your gifts will make a work of difference in the lives PAL kids and families in the Bronx.
