Petra Trek 2023
Campaign by SSAFA (RCN 210760)
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity are excited to announce the Petra Trek! A fantastic 6 day trek through major highlights and sights of Petra from the arid desert, canyons and mountain passes.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page. Having previously served in the Royal Air Force, this year I am raising money for SSAFA as a way of giving back for all the amazing work they do supporting our Armed Forces and families.

The Challenge

I am taking on the Petra Trek in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. This October, I will be undertaking a 50km trek around the edge of the Arabian desert in Petra, Jordan.

Starting in the ancient Red Rose city of Petra, my journey will take me over rocky desert ground and through narrow gorges, visiting historical sites such as the famous el Khazneth (the treasury) and ad-Deir (the monastery).  I will be walking approximately 12-20km / 6-8hrs per day and camping overnight in the traditional Bedouin style.

The Charity

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves), and their families. SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.
