Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am a British-born physicist based at the Centre for Complexity Science of the National University of Mexico doing research into the causes and prevention of type 2 diabetes, which affects more people than any other serious health condition in the UK - more than dementia and cancer combined.
My brother Michael died two years ago at age 64 through a heart attack that was a consequence of suffering from obesity and diabetes for many years. I miss him very much. 64 is far too young.
As well as dedicating a large part of my time as a professional scientist to find ways to reduce the impact and incidence of diabetes I will also be cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats starting on the 5th July and ending on the 22nd in order to raise funds for Diabetes UK - Britain's most important charity in the fight against diabetes. I will be doing it with three other oldies - two college friends and my cousin David who will be doing it at age 70 and with prostate cancer! We're all cycling for one charity or another.
Please try and find a few quid to donate to Diabetes UK. I'm sure you know someone who is diabetic and someone whose life got tragically cut short like my brother Mike.
